South Africa
Safety
As with all countries there are safety precautions that should be carried out during your stay that will reduce your chances of encountering any problems:
Do not carry excessive amounts of cash on your person.
Do not leave any valuables (e.g. sunglasses, mobile phones, cameras) in sight in your car after parking the vehicle.
As with all cities there are areas that are best avoided when driving after dark or when travelling alone – plan your route around these wherever possible (make use of the friendly locals or travel guides to establish where these areas are). Please note that these areas are few and far between, and that no tour organised by Surf and Turf Safaris Ltd travels through such areas.
If possible do not travel anywhere unknown at night.
It is generally recommended not to walk around streets unnecessarily after dark, regardless of whether you are alone or in a group. Please note that this does not include walking around camp sites after dark.
