5 Night Extreme Great White Shark Experience Introduction
This adventure package is designed for shark enthusiasts from all over the world to take part in one of the most exciting, adrenalin pumping experiences you could ever imagine – cage diving with great white sharks.
The trip is based in Gansbaai (Western Cape), which is the great white shark diving capital of the world and offers the best chance to observe these apex predators in their natural habitat.
Over four days you will have the opportunity to dive with the great whites four times (once each day), maximising your experience and offering the best chances of seeing as many of these incredible creatures as possible. No previous dive experience is necessary as you do not use SCUBA equipment during the trip, but instead will hold your breath and submerse yourself below the water so as not to scare or change the behaviour of the sharks. There is no pressure to dive with the sharks and you are welcome to enjoy the show from on board the boat instead if you prefer. Please note that there is no difference in price whether you actually dive with the sharks or not as the experience is still magnificent and breathtaking.
Very occasionally a dive will have to be cancelled (you will be notified of this on the morning of the dive) if the weather conditions make either launching the boat or diving unsafe, and very rarely outside of the prime season you may go the whole dive without seeing a shark. This is why this trip is spread over four days, as it means that there is a 99.9% chance that you will see at least one shark during your stay. Please note that if any of the dives do have to be cancelled you will of course be refunded the money for that dive.
To give you a chance to explore more of the area and observe different members of the local marine community this trip also includes two whale watching or eco marine cruises around Dyer Island and Geyser Island. From July to December you have a very good chance of seeing the beautiful and protected southern right whale, with a good chance of sighting young calves with their mothers. Outside of these months you are less likely to see these whales, so you will go on an eco marine cruise instead with excellent chances of seeing seals, penguins, seabirds, dolphins, and fairly often great white sharks as well.
