Poachers caught in the Kruger National Park     15/10/2010

On the afternoon of the 14th October 2010 in the Crocodile Bridge region of Kruger National Park game rangers were deployed to engage a group of at least 3 poachers. The poachers were illegally hunting rhino and had gained access to the park by travelling through Mozambique.

During the operation one of the poachers was successfully captured and a hunting rifle confiscated. At least two other men managed to escape back to Mozambique, but the rangers are on the alert and will continue to do their best to capture and heavily reprimand all poachers caught in the park.

Unfortunately two of the game rangers were injured during the operation when a frightened rhino that the poachers had been tracking turned and ran at them, accidentally trampling them in the process. These courageous men are currently being treated for their injuries, which are not life threatening.
