Sodwana Bay is a town full of exciting things to do and places to explore, with something for everyone to enjoy. There is a lively pub, the Maak ‘n Jol (literally ‘make a party’) within a 5 minute walk of the lodge reception where guests can watch any sports on the wide TV projector screen or relax over a game of pool, and a long list of activities can be booked and paid for through the accommodation reception. These activities include horse riding, beach trips (including beach exploring, snorkelling and sun downers), fishing, microlighting (this usually takes place in the mornings) and sand dune quad biking. In addition the local beaches can take some time to explore, so make sure that you make the most of them.

If you have the use of a car there are many excellent game reserves to visit in the area, including Hluhluwe Game Reserve (~100km away), Tembe Elephant Park (4x4 only, ~75km away) and Mkuze (~140km away). Trips to Tembe Elephant Park can be booked through the accommodation reception.

Other conveniences in the local area include a paramedic (available 24 hours a day for emergencies, telephone number +27 (0)83 4425207), local tuck shop, bakery and bottle store, garage and car workshop and a petrol and diesel garage. There is no resident doctor in the town, and the nearest hospital is in Mseleni (telephone +27 (0)35 5710121) which is 30km north of Mbazwana, which itself has a clinic.
