Sodwana Bay Lodge SCUBA Centre (SBLSC) has been the official concession for SCUBA diving in Sodwana since 1993, and is one of the few dive centres in the region to be awarded PADI 5 star status. This means that, as well as taking visitors on spellbinding dives, SBLSC is qualified to train guests to any PADI qualification – please enquire with us if you are interested in any taking part in any training courses as part of your holiday with us.

SBLSC is situated in the heart of Sodwana Bay Lodge resort, near to the chalets and restaurant. The training pool is less than 50m away and offers ideal conditions for any dive training or refresher sessions. All of the skippers employed by SBLSC are trained in first aid, and all members of the crew involved with equipment maintenance and training are fully qualified PADI divemasters.

The gorgeous beaches are less than a 10 minute drive away from the SBLSC (transfers are free and easily organised upon request with the dive school), with the SBLSC dive gazebo ideally situated next to the beach snack hut, toilets and showers. Weather permitting SBLSC usually has 2 charter boat dives per day, and visits all the local dive sites (two mile to nine mile reefs) as the experience and requests of the divers dictates.

All equipment is assembled, disassembled and cleaned for you by specially trained staff, maximising the relaxation and enjoyment of your dive. Full equipment is available to hire (and is included in the price of our packages), but if you wish to bring your own equipment the same gear assembly and transport is offered, although you may wish to prepare your own kit.

The boats used by SBLSC are semi inflatable Gemini crusaders, two of which are powered by eco-friendly 4 stroke Yamaha motors and the other by two Yamaha 85 marine outboard motors. Each boat can take up to 10 divers (as well as the Divemaster), and contains a radio for contact to the beach.

Accommodation at Sodwana Bay

Accommodation at Sodwana Bay consists of 21 spacious twin bed reed chalets, each with an en suite shower and toilet, ceiling fan and mosquito nets. The rooms are serviced daily and include a TV, fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities. Each chalet is within easy walking distance of the Leatherbacks Restaurant, swimming pool, bar and SCUBA diving centre.


Breakfast and dinner are both included in the price of your trip; breakfast is buffet style where you help yourself, whilst dinner is ordered from a menu boasting a wide variety of good food which arrives in very generous portions. Please note that drinks with dinner are not included in the package and need to be paid for separately by yourselves.
