Hluhluwe Game Reserve
Animals and Activities

Hluhluwe boasts an incredibly wide array of plant, animal, bird and insect life, including all members of the Big 5. Also living on the reserve are cheetah, wild dog, giraffe and many different types of antelope.

Included in the price of your trip you will be taken on a number of game drives for you to fully experience the wildlife on a one to one level. Morning walks are also available but are not included in the cost of the trip.

The morning walks are approximately two hours long and are taken by experienced field rangers. These walks provide an opportunity to experience some of the flora and fauna of South Africa close up, with sights not seen from a vehicle, such as insects, plants and animal footprints. You will get a sense of how the rangers track animals through the wilderness and experience the excitement of seeing wild animals whilst on foot.

The game drives are carried out in open safari vehicles and either span the early morning or the evening hours, when the animals are most likely to be on the move and are therefore easier to find. The game drives are taken by experienced field guides who offer a wealth of knowledge of the wildlife that you are viewing, and will be able to answer any questions that you might have. These drives last from two and a half to three hours.

Please note that children must be at least 13 years old to go on the morning walks, and at least 3 years old to go on the game drives.
