Hluhluwe Game Reserve
Hilltop Camp
As the name suggests, Hilltop Camp sits on the top of a large tree covered hill within the reserve and therefore has an unrivalled view of the surrounding areas, and is a beautiful spot to view some of the most stunning sunsets you could ever hope to see.
Hilltop camp is the oldest camp in KwaZulu Natal, and the 3 star accommodation comprises of twin bed self catering rondavels which share communal ablutions and kitchens. Each rondavel has its own braai (barbeque) area, fridge, ceiling fan, air conditioning and tea and coffee making facilities. The ablutions are clean and include showers and a bath, and the kitchens are large and offer all the facilities that you could hope for.
All rondavels are within easy walking distance of the a la carte restaurant on site, the bar, lounge, and the convenience store where you can buy essentials, curios and food for dinner. There is a pool for camp residents, offering a chance to refresh yourself and cool down in the heat of the day.
Guests staying at Hilltop Camp are welcome to explore the forest trail around the edge of the camp, which offers the chance to stretch your legs and learn something about the surrounding flora and fauna.
The Mpunyane restaurant offers a full cooked English breakfast and a la carte dinner, both of which are included in the price of our trips. Please note that it is recommended that you book your table for dinner earlier in the day during busy periods.
There is a computer in the reception area which you can use to connect to the internet. The current rate (accurate as of February 2009) is R10 per 15 minutes and the reception area is open from 7am to 7pm.
