As well as great white shark cage diving Gansbaai and the surrounding areas are some of the best spots for whale watching in South Africa, and offer sightseers the chance to see the rare southern right whale. The best season for spotting southern right whales is between July and December, where there are many sightings of mothers with their young. As part of your trip with Surf and Turf Safaris you will, weather permitting, go on two cruises in search of these whales and other marine life.

Please note that outside of the whale season these trips still operate as eco-tours to the local Dyer Island, where you may see cape fur seals, African penguins and dolphins. There is always a chance that you may get a good sighting of a great white shark from the boat as well.

These tours operate from Kleinbaai, a neighbouring coastal town to Gansbaai – your transfers to the harbour and boat cruises are included in the price of your tour.
