The accommodation and dive school at Aliwal Shoal are ideally situated in the hub of the lively coastal town of Umkomaas. The Dive Centre offers all of the services and conveniences that you would expect of a world class attraction, including high quality gear for hire, air fills, nitrox up to 40%, hot showers, kit storage room, drying space for equipment, staff to load equipment, heated pool to entertain non divers, breakfast deck with sea views and accommodation.

During the dives (which are all from boats, fitted with emergency oxygen, a first aid kit, radios and life jackets) you will be supervised by a fully qualified Divemaster, giving you the added security that an experienced diver with extensive local knowledge is in charge of each dive. The boats themselves are twin 85 Yamahas that launch with a maximum of 10 divers per dive.

The accommodation at Aliwal Shoal is conveniently placed directly above the dive school, and is less than a 5 minute walk away from the centre of town. Town consists of shops, restaurants, banks, a pharmacy and the beach. Literally around the corner from the Lodge is the closest restaurant The Shoal, offering good food (with a natural bias towards exceptional seafood) at reasonable prices.

Accommodation consists of single sex dorm rooms, each sleeping up to 6 people in single beds. These rooms have a ceiling fan, shared en suite shower, toilet and balcony. A full cooked breakfast is included in the packages and is usually served after the first dive of the day. The accommodation can be upgraded from the dorms to a twin or double room, please ask at the time of booking if you would like us to upgrade you or to enquire about the room rates. These double/twin rooms each have an en suite shower, air conditioning and ceiling fan, sea facing balcony, fridge, safe and coffee making facilities.
